About Group Piano
Benefits of Group Piano Lessons
Community- learning the piano can feel lonely and isolating. Being able to play in a group setting makes learning the piano more fun and engaging.
Positive peer pressure- students are motivated to practice more when they see others succeed. Students can encourage and learn from each other.
Performance opportunities- students will perform each week for their peers. Performing in front of others will help students overcome performance anxiety.
Ensemble work- play ensemble pieces in a piano band, no matter your level!
Frequently Asked Questions
Aren't private lessons better than group lessons?
Definitely not! My job as a piano teacher is to guide and teach new concepts to students and give them the skills necessary for effective practice at home. When students take the skills learned in lessons and practice them at home, they will progress and succeed just as quickly as someone taking private lessons. If your goal is to have your student enjoy music and be able to play the piano for life, group lessons are the way to go!
How long will group lessons be?
40 minute lessons, once per week.
How many students are in each group?
3-4 students per group.
What will the format be like for group lessons?
5-10 minutes of group rhythm, theory, music history
10-15 minutes Ensemble Piece
10-15 minutes Solo Work/Performing
Will my student have their own piano at lessons?
Yes! We have four digital pianos in the piano studio, and one acoustic piano in the living room for performances.
Will there be recitals?
Yes!
“Halloween Street Recital''- stop by on Halloween night to play your piece outside! (weather permitting)
Christmas Recital- mini recitals held in my home
Spring Recital- held at another venue
Will my student be learning the same song as everyone else?
Sometimes! We will be performing ensemble music that consists of different levels so that each student can participate in the same song. We will also have time with headphones for each student to work on an individual piece. Students move at their own pace, and they will be on different pieces at different times.
